Spring Ball ’23 Begins at Clarksville High School

CLARKSVILLE, TN — For Clarksville High School Head Football Coach Isaac Shelby, the spring welcomes the chance to get back out on the practice field and shake the rust off. Shelby and the Wildcats began Spring Practice on April 27th and will conclude on May 12th. This is a chance for the coaching staff to evaluate returning players, and any new faces that make their way out. It also offers a chance to implement new ideas or work on areas that may have been a problem in the previous season.

“I am most concerned about the way we practice,” said Shelby. “I think that our structure and tempo are critical factors in our success. If we cant get that perfect before we add a bunch of 8th graders we will have some problems.”

The spring can pose some problems for any team, especially with so many multi-sport athletes competing deep in the postseason in their respective sports. For Coach Shelby, this isn’t something that bothers him.

“Its not I love it,” said Shelby, “I enjoy watching those kids compete in other things, and it gives some other kids chances to get more reps to prove something.”

The Wildcats will wrap up spring ball and have two weeks before starting summer practice in June.
