CLARKSVILLE, TN— In January, four senior football players were awards scholarships at the annual Wildcat postseason award ceremony. This year four scholarships were presented with over $10,000 awarded to members of the team.

“I think its big sometimes some kids just need a little boost or confidence to go try college and these awards can do that for them,” said Wildcats Head Football Coach, Isaac Shelby.

Awarding scholarships to members of the football team has been a staple in the awards night for the Wildcats, and Coach Shelby believes it is a crucial part of the program’s success and allows for alumni to still be able to interact with the current members of the team.

“It is great to have them around and continue to give back and be involved.  I think it started with Mr. Rice and then a lot of other people saw how much he was effecting the program,” added Shelby.

Senior, Nate Hamilton was award the Howard Memorial Scholarship that is handed out annually to a senior interior lineman.

Senior, Johnathan Bowie was award the Stokes Family Memorial Scholarship that is presented by former Wildcat and Vanderbilt Commodore alumni, Taylor Stokes.

Senior, Jack Stein was award the Steve Primm award and scholarship for a senior player that excels on and off the field, with a primary emphasis on special teams.

Senior, Ben Moore was award the newly renamed John C. Carney Jr. Alumni Scholarship that is presented each year by the Wildcats Alumni Association.
