Wildcats Stung by Yellowjackets
CLARKSVILLE, TN — The Clarksville High School Wildcats hosted the Springfield Yellowjackets, in Week 2, in their season opener which the Wildcats would drop 27-10.
The Wildcats would receive their only touchdown from, Senior, Rayshawn Bowling on a 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Senior, Andrew Irvin would also make a field goal in the fourth quarter to bring the game within ten.
Springfield had a stellar first half as they marched the ball down the field with ease. The Wildcats had the Yellowjackets at a third and long situation on their first drive before a pass interference call saved the drive and allowed Devon Crenshaw to score from a few yards out.
The Yellowjackets would score later in the first half on a screen pass from Crenshaw, which gave Springfield a 13-0 lead. Just before the half, the Yellowjackets would try to strike again, but Bowling would come up with a tip-drill interception to stop the drive and kept the score 13-0.
Clarksville’s struggles would continue to start the second half allowing for the Yellowjackets to find the end zone once more to push their lead 20-0. Bowling would eventually score for the ‘cats, and CHS found themselves in the redone two more times but penalties would cause the offense to sputter and only get three points out of the two trips.
Springfield would eventually receive another rushing touchdown from Crenshaw to push their lead to 27-10.
The Wildcats dropped to 1-1 on the season and will face rival Rossview in Week 3.
